I love The British Frontline by Thomas J Eyre, and the cover is perfect for the story.

The author has done a splendid job with this story, and it shows from the first paragraph until the last. The main character, Patrick Regan is a Marine in the British Royal Military as a sniper fighting in Afghanistan gives you a patriotic look into the character. The first sentence grabbed me and didn’t let go.

The British Frontline is filled with realistic military action of war with the power to make you feel like you’re in the middle and might need to run for your life. The main character, Regan goes from the conflict in the Middle East to taking down the Russian mobsters who killed his parents and took his sister hostage.

This book is impeccably researched and Thomas J Eyre did a fantastic job of working in the military aspect with the battlefield and the soldiers. I could picture everything. I smelled the blood and heard the bombs and the gunfire, felt the sand in my boots. Same with the descriptions and action when he infiltrates the Russian mafia to find his sister and along the way exposes child trafficking.

The only reason this well-written book did not receive 5-stars from me is a tad of repetitive wording, and some sentences I personally felt could have been stronger. This by no means took away from my overall enjoyment of The British Frontline and was nothing more than a blip on my editor’s brain.

Not even sure you like mobster books or military books? The British Frontline by Thomas J Eyre is the book for you. Action packed, thriller, keep you on the edge of your seat book with intrigue and war.

The cover and title are a bit misleading. Seen without any other information I would expect this to be a world war history. Other than that I could find nothing out of place. The writing, the suspense, the formatting are all top notch.

Patrick Regan, Paddy to his friends strikes me as a man after my own heart. When confronted with the death of his mother and step-father he doesn’t take it lying down when the authorities drop the case. He takes action, and there is a lot of that in this story. Starting with a mission in Afghanistan which comes close to getting him killed and in fact results in the death of the helicopter pilot whose actions saved him and his wounded partner. He no sooner arrives at the base when he is summoned to learn that his parents’ sailboat has been destroyed and his sister is missing.

Susie’s body isn’t found. Is she dead or alive? All paddy knows is that all evidence points to her being aboard when the boat was destroyed.

An endlessly suspenseful plot, good solid writing, and well-done formatting in the copy I received make this book a ‘keep you reading all night’ experience. I could not put this one away unless pure exhaustion took over. Filled with action and intrigue, very well written, and professionally presented this book is definitely a must-read for anyone who enjoys suspense.

All the characters are portrayed beautifully. All the scenarios are believable. Professionally presented and gripping story make this a must-read for anyone who enjoys a tale filled with action and emotion that I think no reader could possibly miss. I would choose to read this again rather than many of the highly acclaimed bestsellers promoted by the New York Times bestseller lists. I look forward to Thomas J Eyre’s next book, though it will be a tough job to top this one.
